Grids
Harvard Graduate School of Design
DES 3389: The Fifth Plan Spring 2020
This research is focused on exploring the grid as a tool for design.
The grid can be something more than just lines; it is a perception, a system of bringing order
to chaos, a way of understanding our messy world. In other words, the grid operates as
a logic of vision by establishing aesthetics of order.
The grid, by itself, is harmless, there is no positive or negative notion to it. It becomes
something beneficial only when it disappears, when it gives its place to something that
can be described as beneficial.
In order to understand the definition of the grid,
we could try to do an anatomy of its parts.
