Amplified Realities

Project for the group exhibition ISLAND KEEPERS,
curated by Isola Studio and LAVA hub.

An island is a form of reflection, an opportunity for self-reflection.

It’s about being in a remote space within a constant state of transformation. The body recognizes a different reflection the moment it moves through space; a reflection that transforms with time. An island’s definition is regenerated the moment its boundaries are identified.

This project comes to simulate the self-reflection process in a different way, a way that creates uninhabited forms. The amplification room is a series of vertical mirroring surfaces that are curved in specific moments distorting reflections. The distortion can be so intense to the point that the body is not recognizing oneself. The body is invited to reflect and explore its new perspective on oneself.

It’s only a matter of space and time to get a different view, a different reality.

The amplification room comes to pose the question:

“Are you able to you recognize a distorted reflection of yourself?”
